Executive Chef Pedro Villasana

Pedro Villasana began his culinary career in the early1980’s at The Agora and The Salonica restaurants in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. In these establishments, he learned basic food selection, preparation and presentation skills. In addition, he acquired experience in all types of Mediterranean food preparation. Upon relocating to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 1985, he accepted a position as Head Chef at Magdalena’s Restaurant on Franklin Street. Here he refined his kitchen management skills and expanded his repertoire of dishes to include vegetarian and locally produced food dishes. In 1990, Pedro accepted a position as Executive Chef at Anotherthyme Restaurant in Durham. He worked closely with chef and owner Mary Bacon on recipe development and managed day-to-day operations of the kitchen. In 1999, Pedro was honored to be offered the position of Executive Sous Chef at Treyburn Country Club under Executive Chef Joseph Lumbrazo. In his nine years at Treyburn, Pedro has had the opportunity to expand his culinary skills and kitchen management skills.
Originally from Michoacan, Mexico, Pedro spent five years in Chicago, Illinois. He married Ann-Marie Fallon in 1985, and they moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where Ann-Marie earned her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Pedro and Ann-Marie have two children. Camila, 18, is a freshman at ECU studying international business and Spanish. Adrian, 16, is a junior at Kestrel Heights School and is interested in a career in sports broadcasting. The Villasanas have lived in a beautiful historic neighborhood in Durham for the pas 18 year. Pedro spends much of his free time on lovingly renovating their 1929 craftsman bungalow in Old North Durham.
